Slam The Door! Burn The Bridge!
Don’t make it east with a way out — you’re only cheating yourself.

This site is for those who want to live their own lives … lives not shackled by what friends, society, or upbringing say you “should” do. It’s an outgrowth of conversations with friends about topics not covered by our travel blog, The World A to Z. Topics like being grateful for midday sex and skinny dipping, ranting about things that leave us shaking our heads in disbelief, and non-travel stuff that comes to mind. If you embrace the need to step out of your comfort zone and be a bit more brazenly honest, this blog is for you.
These stories are for those who share similar passions for things that make life worth living — love and sex, travel, and good food and drink. They’re written for those who enjoy stimulating conversations, are willing to entertain other points of view, and who rebel against the status quo. They’re written for those who might see a little bit of themselves in our stories as we bare a bit of our souls (and perhaps more) or who might use our experiences as an excuse to try some new things. It’s your life. Don’t hold back; live it to the fullest!
The names of others in our stories are aliases to protect their privacy. Some of you will see yourselves in these stories; thank you for being a part of our lives! Nudity may be involved. We assume you have a sense of humor; sarcasm should also be assumed. You might agree with us — you might not — but generating stimulating conversation is part of the fun!
Don’t make it east with a way out — you’re only cheating yourself.
There are those moments, flashes in time, that only come along once in a lifetime. The birth of a baby, when you are handed your diploma, the “I do” that seals your marriage (well … sometimes that one happens more than once in a lifetime), and the end of your last day of work are…
Brewing cappuccino reminds us that slowing down allows for deeper enjoyment of simple pleasures.
… the next time you catch yourself making a situation all about you, don’t feel bad.
The U.S. State Department provides travel advisories to help citizens be aware of potential risks abroad. A common theme is to be aware of your surroundings, to which I’d add, don’t look like an American! Lose the cargo pants and backpack, and for fuck’s sake, don’t wear those shoes! A little background: When I was…
This didn’t happen by accident. We’ve been honing our tastes and preferences since our earliest days together.
There are many couples who look at marriage as the end game. I say it isn’t! When you say, “I do,” your life actually begins again.
Let’s get this out right up front … we are bag checkers and we think you should be, too. We’ll get to that shortly, but first, a rant for all those who DO prefer their precious carry-on bags. We’re hoping that if you’re one of “those” people (Sarcasm Font), this rant doesn’t apply to you.…
At an Art and Wine festival just before Covid, we stumbled on a booth offering International boutique wines. Liza poured us several tastes and we fell in love — with Liza and her wines! We ordered a case and became regular customers.
Somewhere over West Texas … On a flight headed back to Phoenix from New Orleans, I just finished watching “Fly Me to the Moon.” The fanciful romantic comedy is built around the events leading up to and during the historic moon landing of Apollo 11 on June 20, 1969. While the characters and some of…
Kona … Hawaii’s warm and drier island, right? Unless an atmospheric river hits the island, dumping a ton of rain in just a few days. Of course, that’s what happened when WE were there a few years ago. But we didn’t let the rain put a damper on our visit; in fact, it turned into…
Women are from Venus and men are from Mars … at least that’s what the book would have us believe. It’s true, tho — men and women are different. For two people who are very alike and discuss everything, we still have very different views on the same topic. Here’s the first of an occasional…
Here’s the scene: It’s 1995 and I walk into a meeting at work. The boss says, “Are you a closer?” Not sure of the question’s context, I respond, “Hell yeah, I’m a closer!” The team soon sits down to a viewing of the “Coffee’s for Closers” scene from the movie Glengarry Glen Ross. IYKYK, but…
We all have a little voice in our head. You know the one … it says “don’t do this” or “don’t do that.” Sometimes it nags us to be nice or “do the right thing.” Where does that voice come from? Most of us can trace those comments to something in our childhood. Our parents…
“You can stay right there when the daylight’s gone Play truth or dare And it won’t take long ‘fore you and her got nothin’ on … but water” Water by Brad Paisley The signs are everywhere — in the lounge and certainly by the pool. An invite to our house for a meal or…
I like kids. I have always said the best sound in the entire world is the sound of laughing, happy children. What I don’t like is rude, unruly, unmannered brats – especially in situations where I (and others) are stressed. This is especially true in airports, train terminals, and just about any other travel location.…
It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly 10 years since we traveled to Prague. Looking back on our blog posts from that trip, I’m reminded of the untold stories from that adventure; the “not safe for work” details to which we only alluded. Now, in glorious color, we probe a bit deeper in the city…
